Imac User Guide
1) Getting Started
(A) When unpacking You pack your iMac, make sure you hold him tight on the sides. Set it on a desk or work area in the vicinity, where there is a convenient outlet.
(B) Do not lay the power cord through the hole in the back of the iMac stand and the connection to the mains. Plug the other end of the cable into the socket.
(C) Additional elements of your iMac also comes with an Apple Keyboard, Apple Mighty Mouse and Apple Remote.
- Take Apple keyboard cable and connect to one of the USB ports on the back of the iMac
- Take the Apple Mighty Mouse cable and connect to a USB port on the side of the keyboard
If you have an Apple Wireless Keyboard and Wireless Mighty Mouse, relate on the wireless manual for their installation.
(D) Internet Cable Connect an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the iMac. Plug the other end into an appropriate modem or network.
Please Note: you also have the option of a wireless connection with Apple's AirPort Extreme technology.
(E) Essential Before switching characteristics, follow the basic built-in features of the iMac. These include:
- a Microphone is located at the top
- an iSight camera on top of the screen lights up with a camera
- a slot-loading optical drive on the side of the iMac
- Stereo speakers
- an infrared receiver
- two USB 2.0 ports on the Apple Keyboard
On the back of the iMac, there are also:
- three USB 2.0 ports
- Ethernet port
- a mini-DVI port
- a Audio in / optical digital audio connection in
- a headphone out / optical digital audio output
- a FireWire 400 port
- one FireWire 800 port
- a power port
2) Initial Set-up
(A) Switching on and setting, press the power button on the back of your iMac. Setup Wizard starts automatically. It guides you through all the basic procedures for creating your
- User account
- E-Mail Account
- Internet connection
Setup Wizard will also show how the transfer Your files, programs and other data from an existing Mac computers. You do not have to make these transfers immediately. Instead, see use Migration Assistant (Applications> Utilities) When you are ready to bring the information on.
(B) Adjustment To adjust Your iMac using Apple> System Preferences on the menu bar. This is the command center for the majority of the iMac settings.
(C) Sleep mode or turn off your iMac allows putting into sleep mode, you avoid the machine start-up procedures if your next assignment. To implement Sleep, have a number of choices:
- Click Apple> Sleep from the menu bar

- Click Apple> Shut Down, or
- Press the Power button and click Shut Down in the dialog box
To turn your iMac on again, press the power button.
3) Mac OS X Quick Guide
(A) Operating System Mac OS X Leopard is the operating system your iMac (and all other Macs), and is already installed on your computer. It controls your files Applications and connected devices and works in a similar way as Windows.
(B) Basic controls you'd expect such as are the basic control of the Apple Keyboard and Apple Mighty Mouse. If you are more familiar with Windows, what you find in Mac OS X, you need the keyboard and mouse less time in order to achieve the same results using.
(C) GUI The first thing you notice with Mac OS X is the style of everything on the Screen appears. Mac employs a GUI (Graphical User Interface) called Aqua. This gives you an impressive clean-cut images and stunning visual effects, all of Apple so designed to make Mac OS X more user-friendly.
(D) Key Points The icons, layouts and navigation of the iMac screens are simple. There are windows, menus, folders and shortcuts. Moreover, there are four key features that you stay organized and help productive:
- Desktop
- Dock
- Finder
- Menu Bar
Desktop The desktop is a screen where you would start, usually every time Your iMac. The first icon you meet to come here (in the upper right corner), the Macintosh HD (hard drive). If you attend various functions of your iMac, other HD icons. Double-click on an HD icon to the files and applications it contains. Points to note:
- Use the desktop Files, folders to store images and documents
- If an external device connects to the iMac, an icon on the desktop

Dock The Dock is a set of icons at the bottom Screen. Use the Dock to access the most frequently used folders, applications and Windows: simply click on the appropriate icon. You can use the symbols to your use of the iMac. Note that when a window appears, it has three buttons in the upper left corner.
- The red Button closes the window
- The yellow button minimizes the window into the Dock
- The green button maximizes and minimizes the size of the window
Finder, one of the icons in the Dock, the Finder on the left. Use You navigate through this, and manage almost every aspect of your iMac, such as folders, drives and applications. There is only one menu bar in Mac OS X. It seems as a single line at the top of the screen. Use the menu bar to
- Interaction with a program
- view, change, and settings and applications

- Log in or out
- begin the sleep mode
- Begin if a restart
- Turn off the iMac
The menu bar changes depending on the application to use. In this way, it offers you the most suitable products to the application.
4) Connectivity
My iMac has a total of five USB 2.0 ports (two on the keyboard, three on the back of the iMac). Use this on the Apple Mighty Mouse devices plus how to connect your
